Trash and Recycling Services
Complimentary Residential Trash Collection - Basic Service
Residential trash service in Des Peres is provided by the City through a contract from Waste Connections (previously Progressive Waste/IESI). The cost for the trash program for the year 2019 is approximately $788,730.00 or $248.00 per household, per year. The City of Des Peres is one of the few municipalities that provides this service to its residents for no charge.

Solid Waste Management - Basic Service
Basic, city paid services include once a week curbside pick-up of the following items:
- Bulky items - residents must call Waste Connections 1 day prior for bulk pickup
- Yard waste (City Wide on Mondays)
- Recycling (same day as your trash service)
Residents wanting additional pick-ups or rear yard service will need to set up the service with Waste Connections by calling 636.321.2100 and pay a fee for the additional service requested. Complimentary Trash & Recycling Containers
The City of Des Peres offers complimentary trash and recycling containers to each home.
If you have recently built a new home, please contact both Waste Connections and the Department of Public Works to schedule delivery of these containers.
For damaged trash containers, including broken wheels please contact Waste Connections.
For damaged recycling containers, please contact the Department of Public Works.
Additional recycling containers may be purchased through the Department of Public Works for $50.00.
All residents receive yard waste pickup on Mondays. Yard waste should be contained Kraft paper bags.
The regular trash, recyclables, and bulky items are picked on Monday through Friday. Each day covers a different section of town. Please view the map of scheduled pickup days.
Des Peres has been an advocate of recycling as a means to both improve the environment and extend the life of area landfills since creation of a Citizens Solid Waste Task Force in 1990. The year 2017 represents the twenty-seventh (27th) year that Des Peres has offered free curbside recycling as a part of our solid waste management.
During the weeks in which any of the following holidays occur, the schedule will shift service by one day following each holiday:
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
Holidays falling on Saturday and Sunday do not affect service during the week.
