The Des Peres Department of Public Safety has certified officers to inspect and install child car seats for Des Peres residents.  More than 80% of all child restraint devices in cars are not in proper use. It may be the children and seats are not sized properly for each other. It may be the seat is under recall and still in use. It may be the seat was not installed properly in the vehicle

Residents can call 314-835-6200 to set up an appointment and one of our certified inspectors will make sure that your car seat is properly installed and safe for use.   There is no charge for this service.  We look forward to helping you and your children travel more safely and enjoyably.

 (RSMo 307.182)

• Children less than 4 years old or less than 40 pounds must be in an appropriate child safety seat.

 • Children ages 4 through 7 who weigh at least 40 pounds must be in an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat unless they are 80 pounds or 4'9" tall.

• Children 8 and over or weighing at least 80 pounds or at least 4’9” tall are required to be secured by a safety belt or buckled into an appropriate booster seat.
